You are what you … buy!

I have been on a shopping spree the last weeks and got me more rpg books I can read … so I thought. One of my pet peeves is buying and reading world guides and source books for as much roleplaying games as possible.

I never was a big fan of Warhammer. I never played the tabletop “wargame” nor did I play any of the roleplaying games, but somehow I ended up buying the “Enemy Within” Humble bundle a few weeks ago and read the whole of it within a few days. At the same time there was a Bundle of Holding of more or less the whole product line of Monte Cooks Numenera. I got hold of the 1st Edition rulebook in 2012 but never really did anything of substance with it so it landed on my pile of shame … but I always liked the idea of the setting. I missed the release of the 2nd Edition completely and so I sat there infront of my monitor contemplating whether I should get the Bundles of Holding or not. Just as I thought “f-it!” the bundles expired and I bought the core books “Discovery” and “Destiny” at the regular price tag … and boi oh boi did I liked them. I completely fell in love with the setting and rules. Since then I bought the whole back-catalogue of Numenera. The Cypher System is so elegant and easy to handle.

A few days later I started to get interested in the Cypher System at a whole. I bought several books and inhaled their content. Just as I got myself the latest White Books, there was a Humble Bundle containing nearly everything from Monte Cook games that I did not own already … and most of the stuff I bought the day before … lol I guess.

In essence, this is how I indirectly financed Monte Cook Games’ next big barbecue! 😀
