Another protagonist

After Mythic decided, that the slave girl Moire is quite important to my solo campaign, I decided to give her the whole treatment of a character sheet, backstory etc. This time I tried to generate a HârnMaster character with very exact ideas in mind, that means that I hand-picked most of the elements.

Oh, before I forget … for this character generation I used the fantastic work sheet (see Resources) created by Denis Ricard (Hexaèdre), that sped up the whole process immensely. Thanks for that!

Moire is a Kath barbarian and has lived in the Kathela Hills until she got snatched in a raid as a five year old. She is from a tribal society with a wilderness background with her parents being hunters. In my campaign she is always called just by her forename but I decieded to give her a proper name: Moire Uí Fithcheallaigh. Even though, I think that it is quite reasonable to assume that she cannot remember her surname. She entered service in House Gehwær right after she was captured and sold. Essryd’s mother had quickly taken Moire into her heart and always made sure that she was treated good and fair.

Her sunsign Táræl granted her the trait Indecisive and her morality is Principled. BUT most importantly: She has no mental health issues like a certain other character. *phew* As her pantheon, I picked shamanism and the boar as her totem spirit. That coincidentally plays well with what I had in mind regarding her character lore. The only possession she has and really cares for is a little boar carved from bone and given to her by her father. Tadaa!

Due to her occupation as domestic slave, Moire is very well with everything that one could call domestic work, i.e. her best rated skills are Cookery and Textilecraft. And because of her family background she also is very good at everything that has to do with nature like Herblore, Survival and Tracking. Additionally Moire is also quite good with bow and arrow.

I’m really happy with how she turned out, because some of her skills will come in handy in my campaign. Now, that Essryd and Moire are more or less on the run, she can prove herself. Both have to protect themselves from the forces of nature. I already researched how cloth, leather and fur has been made waterproof in medieval times and it turned out, that you can impregnate linen using the smoke of oak tree filings (at least they did that with tents). With Moire’s skill, that should be deemed doable.

I have to admit, that the idea of playing a noble character with a manor was intriguing at first. But it quickly turned out, that it is really repetetive at times “Oh, peasant … you don’t want to eat your soup? Off with the head!” So I’m really looking forward to transform this campaign into a “divine comedy meets cathartic roadmovie”.

I already plotted a course for the first stages of their escape from Rethem, but I don’t know where their journey will end … I think that Býria would be a perfect match for Essryd! lol
